Andy can teach a wide variety of different guitar styles, ranging from rock/pop, blues, country, jazz and fingerstyle, and has a vast number of songs in his repertoire in which to draw from and pass on to his students. He is also more than happy to teach songs that his students bring along to him, and actively encourages them to do so, as he has found this is one of the best ways to learn and improve on the guitar.

For the more advanced or those who just want to brush up on their music theory, Andy has a thorough understanding of chords and how they're built, and also of scales (modes) and how to use them. He often uses jazz standards to illustrate how to play through chord changes and how to apply scales.Using this method, Students learn the nuts and bolts of how to improvise over any given set of chords.

Andy has a love of finger-style guitar gained from years of listening to guitar greats such as Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins and Buster B. Jones. This fascination has given rise to his expert knowledge in the unique right hand techniques employed in this style including Travis Picking,Cascading Harmonics and Banjo Rolls.

Aside from the practicalities of learning guitar, for those who are ready or wanting to start playing live in front of an audience, Andy can share his extensive knowledge of live performance from his wealth of experience playing gigs in and around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
